Breast Feeding
Problems and
Surgery
There are so many advantages of breast feeding for the babies
health and well being and it is good to explore any breast feeding
problems that arise after surgery. And one of the biggest benefits of breastfeeding
is seeing your baby grow up into a healthy child and having the
good feeling inside that you have done the best you could do.
Some benefits of breast feeding from scientific studies are
that breast feeding protects against infection like diarrhea and influenza
and enhances vaccine response with lots of other benefits too.
Breast surgery can affect if a woman can breastfeed her baby
successfully. Some
factors involved in this are how long since the surgery was
performed, her previous breastfeeding experiences, her support
from her partner and family are factors in a woman's ability to
produce breast feed after surgery. The main area of
concern are the milk ducts and nerves and if they were
damaged in the breast surgery..
Ask your surgeon who performed the breast operation. If he was
careful with the major nerves, breastfeeding after surgery will
most likely not be a problem..
